We pay our respect to Elders past and present, whose enduring role in our communities upholds the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, embodies the vision that guides us today, and nurtures the legacy that empowers the next generation.

NAIDOC Week is a national celebration that recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while providing an opportunity for all Australians to deepen their understanding and connection to First Nations communities. Held each July, it shines a spotlight on culture, storytelling and community, encouraging participation through local events and shared experiences.

NAIDOC Week 2026 continues to celebrate the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, while fostering greater respect, recognition and connection across the country.

The 2026 NAIDOC Week theme is “50 Years of Deadly”, celebrating five decades of culture, resilience and achievement, and recognising the communities, voices and stories that continue to shape the future.

As part of this celebration is the National NAIDOC Week Poster Competition. Each year, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are invited to submit artwork that reflects the annual theme and celebrates culture, storytelling and community.

This year’s winning artwork, “Paralpi”, is by Zaachariaha Fielding, a proud Yankunytjatjara man from the APY Lands in South Australia. His work reflects movement through generations, carrying stories, culture and identity forward while honouring the strength and continuity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The 2026 NAIDOC poster will also be available at Kmart from 18 June 2026.
